What makes the series stand out from anything else out there is the two young men that are not only taking the series forward at a massive rate of knots, but building a Youth championship and Federation that is leaving everything in their wake at the same time. DEP owner Craig Elwell and Supercross promoter Matt Bates are more than just mates, they’re men that love and understand Motocross at every leveland share a passion to see the sport get clear direction – they are also the M&C of their own Federation and Events company (although they’ve had a great laugh kidding people up what exactly MC stands for!). That’s why their latest great idea will blow most people away. Read on…
‘We’ve just got back from a pretty hard 24hour trip to Tenerife visiting an amazing place near the airport called Motocross 365’. Explains Matt. ‘Craig phoned me last week with another one of his ideas that started with ‘c’mon were going to Tenerife on Thursday to look at running a race for all of our boys’. It seemed like a great idea to me so we jumped on a flight to meet up with the local Tenerife Motocross Club. By midnight that night we’d done a deal with them to bring both our 2 Stroke and Elite Youth riders to race at their venue in December this year. We’re taking care of everything from flights, hotels, bike transport, transfers, shipping – the entire trip will be just one big package holiday. All the riders and families have to do is book in and make their way to the airport’.
The race will be called the DEP Tenerife Race Week and is a seven day dream journey for families, riders and any group of lads that love Motocross and want to experience something really special. ‘Craig and I continuously talk about what we would want if we were the riders. Going on holiday with our friends, family and bike really ticks the box for us. We’re also both married with young families and to be honest our wives don’t always skip their way to the front door when we say we’re off racing for the weekend... so this trip is as much for the Mum’s and wives of Motocross as anything else. We’ve done a great deal with a top class Hotel & Spa complex that has great facilities.

It’s also just a short walk to the beach, plus the weather at the end of November in Tenerife is usually in the 80’s… we’re going for serious female brownie points here!’ The final part of the holiday that should make the experience truly memorable is what we have planned as a Team Challenge. We’ve invited a few top riders that are also some of the good-guys of the sport to help make the week stand out for every Youth or Adult rider. Billy Mac, Brian Jorgensen, Paul Cooper, Gordon Crockard, Mark Eastwood, David Willett, Jake Nichols and Jason Dougan will all muck in and head up one of eight teams each. They’ll be a draw at the start of the week where all the riders get allocated to a team leader… then they’ll be a number of races (Motocross, Qualifying Laps, Kart Racing etc) that everyone has to take part in throughout the week to gain points towards lifting the Team Championship… should be a great laugh!
